Destination
Kilimanjaro is East Africa's iconic trekking objective, often paired with Tanzania safari or Zanzibar after the climb.

January to early March and June to October are common climbing windows, with clearer weather and more predictable trail conditions.
Most climbs start from the Moshi or Arusha area. Machame approaches the mountain from the south-west and descends by Mweka.
Choose a route length that gives enough time for altitude adjustment.
Confirm cold-weather layers, sleeping setup, porter weight limits, and trekking equipment before arrival.
A safari or Zanzibar extension can follow the climb if recovery time is planned.
Kilimanjaro is a trekking route rather than a vehicle safari, but it can combine with Tanzania wildlife parks before or after the climb.
Machame is a scenic camping route with varied landscapes and a better acclimatization profile than very short climbs.
